PROLOGUE III

by FREDRIKSON STALLARD

Taking inspiration from water as a precious resource, Fredrikson Stallard has reinterpreted its work and decorated it with 8,000 Blue Shade crystals to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Swarovski Waterschool. Depending on the position of the sun, these crystals refract and reflect daylight, energizing their surroundings. Prologue III is simple in its imitation but complex in its endless nuances, embodying literal and metaphysical associations. The circle is the beginning and the end – a cycle of infinite potential.

Prologue III was first exhibited at Design Shanghai 2015. Earlier works in this series include the suspended Prologue in topaz, presented at Design Miami/Basel 2014, and the standing Prologue II in topaz (Art Hong Kong 2014 and Baselworld 2016).

Patrik Fredrikson and Ian Stallard have been collaborating since 1995 and have gained international recognition as the leading representatives of British avant-garde design. They are well-known for the ability to translate their creative ideas into simple and yet esthetically appealing furniture and product designs. Their futuristic, conceptual work is often written about in international design media and is very popular with collectors and furniture manufacturers: The Victoria and Albert Museum in London has already acquired pieces by Fredrikson Stallard twice and others works have been shown in the French National Art Collection, the Design Museum in London, MOMA, and the Museum of Art and Design in New York.

Collaborating with Swarovski has become a tradition for Fredrikson Stallard. Among other projects, the duo has designed the “Eden” Chamber of Wonder, several lighting projects and jewelry collections for Atelier Swarovski, and objects for Atelier Swarovski Home.
