By making tangible the voices of the people behind the company, the artist has created a social sculpture. The piece represents the diverse skills of the employees whose work is behind the excellence of Swarovski crystals. In this piece, crystals are brought to life by stories from around the world.
The Mexican-Canadian artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer was born in Mexico City in 1967. He is one of the world’s most renowned artists working in the medium of electronic art. His installations, some of which are interactive, merge art and technology and operate at the interface between architecture and performance. When using robotics, computer-controlled tracking, or telematic networks, the interaction between the work and the viewer is of central importance. In collaboration with Swarovski Crystal Worlds, Lozano-Hemmer has added two emotionally resonant works of great radiance to his oeuvre.
