A chamber of wonders, or Wunderkammer, is an oasis of individual curiosity. Its objects are freely arranged according to the preferences of its creator. They offer an unconstrained view of the world’s diversity and inspire moments of wonder. The Studio Job “Wunderkammer” is a prime example, a place where historical motifs are given contemporary interpretations. Miniatures of world-famous buildings, from the Goldenes Dachl (Golden Roof) to Big Ben, form the starting point and backdrop for an imaginative journey of discovery guided by the experience of this unique space as a whole.
Studio Job, the Dutch-Belgian design duo consisting of Job Smeets and Nynke Tynagel, is based in Tilburg in the Netherlands and established itself on the international design scene in the late 1990s, earning a reputation for boundless versatility. Their exuberant works range from jewelry and opulent furniture design to provocative sculptures. Studio Job’s original approach is characterized by a unique combination of traditional craft techniques and modern design. With impish glee and a love of detail, they create unconventional works that are extravagant, sometimes ironic, and always humorous.
